For my first post on this blog page I want to throw it back to a post that I wrote on 9/3/13. Please comment and/or share :-)

As a child growing up, I always had visions of what my life would be like when I was older. I’m sure we all did that as children. The scary thing is now that I am 39, I hear too many people use the phrase “well, that ship has sailed!” If you are not where you want then why aren’t you making steps to get there now? You are only ONE decision away from changing your situation and making your life better!
Every day people are watching others have success and think those people have “it” or are lucky or must have lots of college degrees. Usually it’s just that those people get up everyday, set a goal, then bust their ass to reach that goal. No excuses, no negative self talk, no surrounding themselves with people who will justify their situation, just plain focus and hard work.
I began my fitness business in my garage with some equipment that i got for free or very cheap on Craigslist. I was making a couple hundred dollars per month in addition to my full time job as restaurant manager. Nothing fancy, most of it was wal mart quality equipment at best but I managed to attract over 25 people to train with me in my dirty garage. I took my circumstance and made the best of what I had. I had no money to open my own fitness center so I used my garage and also began running outdoor classes at local parks. I started building up a following, then winter hit slowing things down.
I lost my management job that February in 2009 and after the initial shock of losing my salary and comfortably knowing that I can pay all of my bills I made a decision…that I will never manage a restaurant again!! That decision was met with a lot of resistance as moving forward to pursue fitness, without any money, was scary especially with the birth of twins due in a couple months. I partnered with my kids’ karate dojo and began my dream of having my own fitness business. I didn’t make much at first because I was no good at marketing and had to move to several different locations. The plan changed, the strategy changed, but the focus remained the same. I now have a following well over 100 members and am making money from multiple sources while helping people get healthy and confident!!
Whatever your dream is, regardless of your age, go after it. You only have one life, do whatever it takes (legally, lol) to get what you want for you and your family
